Music & Money: Financial Literacy Summit powered by Lyric Financial Music [clear filter]
Monday, May 14

2:00pm CDT

Financial Literacy Summit Welcome from Founder and CEO of Lyric Financial, Eli Ball
The idea to add a financial literacy summit to the Music Biz conference program was born after a review of the 2017 attendees survey results. Attendees agreed that there were many sessions on how to make money in the music business, but few sessions on what to do with that money once it was in your bank account. Our first “Music & Money: Financial Literacy Summit” will feature an informative discussion on how those in the music business can achieve financial success; the legal and financial issues that artist-owned companies must consider to make sure they maximize and keep the profits from their hard work; and how to forecast potential ROI before investing in launching a new artist
or project. The Summit brings together artists, managers, agents, CPAs, lawyers and more for a well-rounded afternoon on how secure your financial future.

The New Music Economy: A Collaborative Team Approach
While today's songwriters and performers can potentially make more money than ever before, that doesn't automatically mean they're going to be set for life. We've all seen the hard luck stories about singers who were big stars just a few years ago who somehow wind up penniless after a series of setbacks, and we continue to see artists from all genres or music, who declare bankruptcy, sometimes even repeatedly, in an effort to manage debts that exceed their incomes.

Panel will discuss the new music economy and the critical importance of a collaborative team approach to proactively build and protect the artist / band / producer’s financial resources, with real life planning strategies and safeguards that can be utilized to avoid the potential land mines, helping to ensure a solid, and stress-free financial future.
