Maureen Droney is The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing Managing Director.  As a recording engineer, she has worked on projects for Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Santana, including Santana’s GRAMMY-winning album Blues for Salvador, and has accumulated mix credits for two Billboard Top 10 dance records. Prior to joining the Recording Academy, Droney oversaw the Kiva Family of studios and music-related businesses, which included the House of Blues Studios in Los Angeles, and Memphis and East Iris Studios in Nashville. She’s been the Los Angeles editor of Mix magazine for more than 10 years, has authored the popular recording textbook Mix Masters, the music business book The Pensado Papers, and is a regular contributor to numerous performing arts publications. Droney has taught seminars for companies including ABC Television and Radio, CBS Television, and Deluxe. She has also worked in both artist and studio management.
